ISSF NEWS is the official publication of the International Shooting Sport Federation – ISSF – the governing body of the international shooting sport, a member of the International Olympic Committee - IOC - and so it is in charge of the Olympic shooting events. It is published bimonthly February, April, June, August, October and December and will be available for download to your iPad through the ISSF NEWS app.

The Olympic program of the Shooting Sport consists in 15 different events. Olympians compete in nine men’s events and six women’s events in three different disciplines, with five five events each for rifle, pistol and shotgun shooting.

Official ISSF competitions also include the ISSF World Cup Series, the ISSF Shotgun World Championships, the ISSF Running Target World Championship and the ISSF World Championship in all events, which also feature 300m rifle events and 25m Center Fire and Standard Pistol events, as well as junior events.

The ISSF World Cup Series is articulated in 4 different World Cup stages in Rifle and Pistol events and in 4 different stages in Shotgun events. The World Cup stages are organized by national member federations by appointment of the International Shooting Sport Federation every year, and usually take place in different countries between March and July. Combined World Cup stages, where Shotgun, Rifle and Pistol competitions are shot, can be organized.

ISSF World Cup Finals are organized every year, as a conclusion of the ISSF World Cup Series. Usually, two separate World Cup Finals for Shotgun events and Rifle & Pistol events are organized. At the end of the World Cup Series, the best eight shooters in each event with the highest qualification values will qualify out of the ISSF World Cup Series. Within one event, only a maximum of two shooters per nation will be permitted to compete in the World Cup Final. Next to the best eight, wild cards are granted to the Title Defenders, and, in the years of the Olympic Games and of the World Championships, to the three medalists in each event.
